“Through this programme, I want to instil hope in them that they can still play football again despite their disability,” he added.
Sunny also claimed that Malaysia is the first country in Asean to have an organised training structure for amputees.
“Amputee football exists at international level and Vietnam is the first country that introduced the game with amputees on crutches kicking the ball.
“However, they do not have a structured training programme.
“We hope to introduce and expand the game to other Asean countries such as Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia,” he said, adding that he is targeting to have the team play with Vietnam in a tournament.
